Here at St. Joseph’s School Queens Park we value the role that Sport plays in the development of healthy, happy children. With this in mind we run a comprehensive Sport program from Kindy to Year Six that covers all aspects of the Australian Curriculum Health and Physical Education capabilities as well as much more. Students from Pre Primary to Year Six compete in our faction athletics carnivals while students from Year Four up also take part in Cross Country and Swimming carnivals. These are always wonderful occasions. Our school then competes at local interschool carnivals in all of these disciplines. While we try not to over emphasise winning at these carnivals we have had plenty of success in recent interschools, winning the Swimming carnival in 2015, 2016 and again in 2017 while also taking out the athletics interschool carnival in 2015 and 2016. Throughout term two each year our Year Six children get the opportunity to compete against other local schools in Netball, Football and Soccer. They then compete at a lightning carnival at the end of the term. Training for all of these different events is always very well supported by staff, parents and other family members at our school. Throughout the year we also have visits and events from various sporting organisations such as the T20 Cricket blast which takes place in Term Two each year.
